RISE First-Year Seminar: WVUE 191

Fulfill your first-year seminar requirement with us! You will meet once a week with a RISE adviser and fellow RISE students. The course will help you transition to WVU and provide information about campus resources. This course is offered in the fall.

RISE UNIVERISTY MENTORING: WVUE 200

Want to connect with a faculty or staff member? Take the University Mentoring course and earn credit for engaging in meaningful dialogue with a mentor. You will work in a small group setting led by WVU faculty and staff to explore topics that support healthy professional and personal development. This 1-credit course is offered in the spring and is recommended for upperclassmen and transfer students.

Global Englishes: LING 202

Examine historical, linguistic and sociopolitical developments that have led to the spread of English as an international language, and the subsequent emergence of new global Englishes. You will also explore how the spread of English has affected local languages through an immersive study abroad trip over spring break to Belize. This 3-credit course is offered in the spring.
